Greetings, first of all, I’m a new contributor, working alongside my partner blitxerg. Beside Card Reviews and strategies, I’ll also post tournament reports and deck analysis in the upcoming future.
Now! Continuing with the True Six Samurai or Shin Roku Bushu in Japanese, we’ll now talk about the advantage-making couple, Shinai and Mizuho.
True Six Samurai - Mizuho
Warrior/Effect/FIRE
*** / 1600 / 1000
“If you control a face-up "True Six Samurai - Shinai", you can Special Summon this card from your hand. Once per turn, you can Tribute 1 "Six Samurai" monster, except this card, to destroy 1 card on the field.”
Younger version of Hand of the Six Samurai has both her superior and inferior abilities. Mizuho’s superiority came in the fact that she can destroy anything! Not just Monster cards. And furthermore, when Shinai is in play, she can come directly to assist, making it even more advantageous during tight spots, or if you want to secure an OTK.
However, her inferiority came that she can only fire her effect once per turn, unlike Hand of the Six Samurai who can wipe out all of your opponent’s monster given you have enough ammo (Gateway + GMOSS is sufficient though, perhaps that’s why Mizuho is OPT, so you can’t nuke opp field in one go).
True Six Samurai – Shinai
Warrior/Effect/WATER
*** / 1500 / 1500
*** / 1500 / 1500
“If you control a face-up "True Six Samurai - Mizuho", you can Special Summon this card from your hand. If this card is Tributed, you can add 1 "Six Samurai" monster from your Graveyard to your hand, except "True Six Samurai - Shinai".”
Many might not realized it, but he is most likely Spirit of the Six Samurai when he was still alive as a human being. Shinai’s basic stat came so-so, for only 1500/1500, but at least Emmersblade can’t kill it eh :v
Shinai’s effect gives you an instant +1 when used along Hand/Mizuho. But the drawback is, he barely see any use outside of the combo, and even with the combo out, it is not very game-breaking (although in some instances, it can break the game by recycling like GMOSS or Kizan for extra damage).
However, there are still some ways to get through this downside. Shien’s Smoke Signal from STOR is a ROTA for Six Samurai, albeit can only look up to Level 3, but that’s what we need anyways, since Shinai, Hand of the Six Samurai and Mizuho are all Level 3s. And if you want to make something funny, you can also set Spiritual Water Art – Aoi to deplete your opponent’s hand.
To conclude, in my personal opinion, Mizuho is a great card, but is yet to replace Hand. I’d say use them both in a deck, around 1-1 or 2-1 (or vice-versa). Shinai seems interesting to see play, but so far I don’t think he is that useful yet. But only time will tell, there are a lot of possibilities within the True Six Samurai sub-archetype and it’s not impossible that someone might find a way to utilize the Eternal Lovers to their maximum extent.
That’s it from me, stay tuned to unlimitedueling.blogspot.com!
