Tech Genus! Assemble!!

Hello everyone, so we're back with a new article about the newest archetype “Tech Genus” with me Infinitive the new writer in this blog.

So let’s take a look about this archetype that being used by Bruno or Dark Glass, at first glance this archetype had an awesome art! Yeah almost all aspect in YGO turned into super robot, mecha, oh don’t forget the ROFL ultraman scene in the latest episode! So yeah another mecha didn’t surprise me.

And now let’s look what they made of, by looking at their effect I can said that they more likely like a counterpart of Gadget, their effect is consist on searching their friend from the deck to the hand when they are destroyed and send to the graveyard. Did I say sent to the graveyard? So yeah to counter this archetype is pretty easy you just need to side in either Banisher of the Radiance or Dimensional Fissure to stop their search power. And oh I almost forgot to mention that their effect is exactly the same like XX-Saber Darksoul, you need to wait until the end phase to grab your card, after your Tech Genus monster being destroyed.

And now after we take a look at their artwork and their engine, let’s take a look at their card ok?


Tech Genus Werewolf

When a Level 4 or lower monster is Special Summoned, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. During the End Phase of the turn in which this card on the field is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, add 1 "Tech Genus" monster from your Deck to your hand, except "Tech Genus Werewolf". (Effect Unconfirmed)

Did you see the Dark attribute? Ok this is my opinion, what do you think if we can abuse the Mystic Tomato? Yeah Mystic Tomato, you can easily swarm the field by set Mystic Tomato in the field, and wait until your opponent take the bait and attacking your Tomato and destroy it, after that you can grab LV 4 or lower DARK monster from you deck or just grab another Mystic Tomato and place it in your field and wow you got another bonus by using this card effect!! And if your opponent attacking your mystic tomato again or your Werewolf you can get another plus easily. Or how about use Giant Rat instead? By using Giant Rat we can grab Tech Genus Striker instead for instant Gladiator or Wonder Magician next turn!!


Tech Genus Striker

If your opponent controls a monster and you control no monsters, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. During the End Phase of the turn this card was destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, you can add 1 "Tech Genus" monster from your Deck to your hand, except "Tech Genus Striker". (Effect Unconfirmed)

What is this? Did I just see at the Cyber Dragon wanna be? And wow it’s a tuner! I’m a happy guy now, so yes this is the Cyber Dragon for Tech Genus series and you can also get Wonder Magician and Gladiator easily by using this card effect and then normal summoned Tech Genus Werewolf from your hand, not to mention that every each one of Tech Genus effect monster always had an effect to grab another Tech Genus from your deck easily! Meaning what? Meaning that you can grab your Striker very easy! And that’s mean an easy Wonder Magician or Gladiator too!!

Now after take a peek at their pawn, let’s take a peek at their general shall we?


Tech Genus Gladiator

1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner "Tech Genus" monsters
During battle between this attacking monster and a Defense Position monster whose DEF is lower than the ATK of this card, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent. When this card on the field is destroyed, draw 1 card. (Effect Unconfirmed)

Now what we have here? First he had piercing effect, and 2300 ATK? Feeling De Javu? Yes he more likely like Blackwing – Armed Wing, although this one is a LV 5, his second effect is pretty good IMO, it let you draw a card when it’s destroyed, either by battle or by cards effect, and wow they didn’t even write ‘send to the graveyard’ that’s mean even Dimensional Fissure can’t stop his draw effect!


Tech Genus Wonder Magician
*****/LIGHT/Spellcaster/Synchro/1900/0

1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner "Tech Genus" monsters
When this card is Synchro Summoned, select 1 Spell/Trap Card on the field, and destroy it. When this card on the field is destroyed, draw 1 card. During your opponent's Main Phase, you can Synchro Summon using this face-up card you control as a Synchro Material Monster. (Effect Unconfirmed)

This is it!! The main key card in this archetype!! First let look at her first effect, it let you destroy 1 Spell or Trap card on the field and destroy it, so you got a free Mystical Space Typhoon by summoning this card, now let’s look at her second effect it pretty much like Tech Genus Gladiator, nothing special, her third effect is let you to do an accel synchro, although you can use Formula Synchron too to summon Blade Gunner.


Tech Genus Blade Gunner

1 Tuner Synchro Monster + 1 or more non-Tuner Synchro Monsters
When this card is targeted by the effect of an opponent's activated Spell/Trap Card, you can send 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard to negate the effect. Once during each of your opponent's turns, you can remove from play 1 "Tech Genus" monster from your Graveyard, to remove this face-up card from play. During the next Standby Phase, Special Summon this card that was removed from play by this effect. (Effect Unconfirmed)

Hey I look at lancelot in a children card game!! No kid it wasn’t lancelot and definetly there’s no gay who ride inside of him, it’s a Tech Genus Blade Gunner kid? Do you understand I said Blade Gunner ok? Put aside the joke this card is definetly the boss card in Tech Genus, just look at him he just like the fusion of Fleur de Chevalier and Drill Warrior, mean that you can negate your opponent spell and trap while you also can hide during your opponent turn, but of course what make him different from Drill Warrior is the cost, other then that he’s the one that didn’t have a common effect in TG archetype, he didn’t do anything when he being destroyed, although he did do something when he destroyed in the Anime or in the Game.
